Starka is a traditional spirit drink in Lithuania and Poland. It’s basically rye vodka which has been matured in oak barrel with pear and apple tree leafs. There are starkas which are matured up to 50 years. Original Starka from Lithuanian Stumbras (43%) is their basic products, matured maybe 2 to 3 years. It’s strong but mellow in the same time, just enough sweet and there are definitely some apple and pear notes. Excellent to sip neat or with ice cubes. Also mix very well with apple juice. Definitely worth of try if you ever happen to be in Lithuania.
