Pirita Herbal Liqueur (40%)

Pirita is a herbal liqueur made by Altia Estonia. Pirita is a district of Tallinn and it have got its name from St. Bridget of Sweden, for whom was build a monastery at eastern part of Tallinn. Pirita is made by 33 different botanicals, fruits, roots and seeds. 35cl bottle bought from Selver at price 6.99€.

Pirita have a gentle nose with orange peel, clove, anis and few other spices. Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy . Taste is very sweet on the beginning but then rise the wave of spices, which is cutted by quite strong alcohol bite. Sweetness and spiciness sneak back on the aftertaste with some bitter friends. Spices stay on the mouth for a long time. Pirita is more spice than herbal liqueur. It’s very sweet, but on the other hand, with less sugar it would burn much more. It somehow feels that it haven’t had enough time to settle down before bottling. It’s a decent and solid liqueur, just too sweet to drink neat, but good together with some warm drink.
