Sandeman is better known of it port wines, but they are strong also on sherry region. It’s one of the oldest still working trademarks. Story tells that it was established by George Sandeman in 1790, when he got at loan of 300£ from his father, to open a port and sherry store in London. 1879 Sandeman open a wine house in Jerez and nowadays they produce 26 million litres of sherry wines and operate 360 hectares wine fields. Currently Sandeman is owned by Portugalian company Sogrape.

Sherry is made by selected grapes to keep the colour wanted. It’s matured on small oak barrels on it’s own solera method, mixed from different wines (Palomino, Pedro Ximenez) and aged average 3-4 years. The price for 75cl bottle ~ 11.50€ (Maksimarket/Estonia)

It’s light but pleasantly sweety sherry. Very easy drinking and suits very well for first sherry for those who have not tried any yet. Peanuts, raisin and oak. Aromas are not too strong but very well mixed. 15% strength makes the sherry bit thin and watery, if you are used for stronger sherries this might be bit lame. Overall sweetness turns more on the dry side in aftertaste, which is just good and tease to take another sip. On it’s price category Sandeman is good and well balanced sherry.
