Saaremaa is a trademark of nordic company Altia, distilled in Finland at Koskenkorva factory. When their original vodka is made from barley, Saaremaa Vodka Mild is made from wheat, but there is added some barley distillate, which have been matured 2,5 years in oak barrel. It is a bit softer than original Saaremaa, but it also reminds a lot of other Altia products, Koskenkorva and Finlandia. There is certain nuance of oak maturation, but it’s quite minor and it can only be found by careful analysis. I’m not sure I couldn’t separate it from other Altia vodkas on a blind taste. 50cl bottle was 7.99€.
