Benediktins is a herbal liqueur made by Latvijas Balzams by the ancient receipt. Herbs macerated on grain spirit are at least angelica root, lemon balm, peppermint and various spices. Sweetened by honey. 35cl bottle was 5.99€ at SuperAlko (Latvia).

Benediktins is very sweet, thick, spicy herbal liqueur. 43% strength is easily recognizable and when there are plenty of spices it feels hot in the tongue. Some spices are quite pungent, nutmeg, cinnamon, clove and them hide all the herbs what there are used. There’s lots of sugar which smoothen the taste, with less sugar it might be still yet more burning. It’s not so nice  experience for drinking neat, but I found it as nice component for many cocktails.
